Lord, whatever it takes...

"Whatever it takes..."

Three words.  Three words that are easy to say, easy to use flippantly or casually.  But do we really understand what we are saying when we pray for God to do whatever it takes?

Even when we truly mean what we say, when we honestly want God to do whatever it takes to grow us or bring someone to Him, do we understand?

What if whatever it takes means the death or illness of someone close to you?  What if it means the loss of your job?  What if it means being in a car accident and becoming paralyzed?  What if whatever it takes means giving everything and keeping nothing?

Would we still be willing to pray "Lord, whatever it takes..."?

What are we willing to give up in order to see one soul come to Christ for salvation?  What are we willing to do in order to draw closer to our God?  What are we willing to lose in order to gain Christ?

"Whatever it takes..."

If prayed honestly, it may be one of the most rewarding prayers we ever pray.  If we truly understand what it may mean and are still willing to pray it, we will see God work.

"Whatever it takes..."

It may also be one of the most dangerous prayers we ever pray.  It may require giving up everything we hold dear. It will require sacrificing our will for God's.

"Lord, whatever it takes..."

Are we still willing to pray it?

  1. What if it means seeing a loved one go through pain that we can't ease or even comfort.

What if it means having family walk away and not know how to help bring them back and you just have to cry for them.

What if it means waiting for years to have a family only to be told to wait some more.

Ultimately, either God is completely sovereign, as the Bible tells us, or he is no completely sovereign and we are wasting our time believing. I believe we are not wasting our time.

Thanks Kristi. I needed this today...and didn't even know it!
